  • That's your new job?  Cornflake girl??!?!  Good for you!  ;~j
  • We all know the lyrics Whickwithy. What we want to know is what she's bleating on about?
  • Haven't a clue.  I've never heard it before and I couldn't get through the first few seconds of song.  The way she talks about a harbour, etc. and the way she words  Martha's Foolish Ginger, I feel like she is referring to Martha's Vineyard.  But, since I'm guessing she's English, that doesn't make a lot of sense.
  • Has anyone ever seen V For Vendetta?
  • But the foolish ginger is not a vineyard and why would a boat be called a foolish ginger?

    Thought she was American?!
  • No what is the film about?
  • It's about the 5th of November, completely corrupted government, run by gloating, pompous politicians (sound familiar?) and someone who is willing to give their life to change it.

It is a really, really great movie if you are into action and stuff and thought-provoking and brilliant dialogue.  The main characters are played by the guy who did the Elf King in Lord Of The Rings and the chief bad guy(robot? contstruct?) in The Matrix and Natalie Portman.  Oh, by the way, if you've never see The Professional that is a really awesome movie, also.  Same thing, lots of action and violence.  My jaw was on the floor by the end of The Professional.  I recommend The Professional rather than the extended version.
  • One of the freakiest parts of V For Vendetta is that it is set in London and the quote used by the government to inspire the people sounds a whole lot like the quote used by the Tories.
  • Yeah, I've seen it and have a DVD copy. It's a great film. Quite deep but clever and beautifully filmed. It has Hugo Weaving as the main protagonist. He was agent Smith in the Matrix trilogy.
It is set in a dystopian future but does parallel current times with corrupt politicians and moves towards a totalitarian government.
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • Yeah, Hugo Weaving.  That was it.
  • So tomorrow here in the UK we celebrate Mothers Day. We give our Mothers and Grandmothers flowers, chocolate and all that type of thing.

Any of you doing anything nice tomorrow?

  • I shall remember mine with love and sadness as I do every other day of the year
  • =(( Aww..do you have no family around you that you still speak too? What about Catherine?

  • A few questions that I have from the Tori Amos video link by PG.  She is basically reiterating what we already know. Of course she isn't singing about being on land. That bit is obvious. So she is stuck in the sea and cant get back out.

Ok...so what has that got to do with this forum? And why have a load of threads been bunched under the name of this song? Who was behind that move?
