The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ.
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit.
Shall lure it back to cancal half a line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  • A decent little tune that I like more when I pretend it's Alison singing... very Goldfrappy :)

Again, Grindr & Scruff have eliminated the need for rent boys.

  • I take the needle off the Technics and put it in my vein
  • So, I fancied a bit of 70's Euro rock and I love the guitar work of Jan Akkerman and this only had one place to go..

  • Something a bit less known (for those old enough) from Jan Akkerman and Focus.
Gary Moore, Carlos Santana, all these guys were influencing each other and pushing the bar of the virtuoso guitarist higher and higher. Great Hammond sound in the background as well. It's late at night, your in a small, smokey club in Rotterdam and you hear this, called Tommy

  • That Moving Waves album did the rounds in school, UT. We all thought Jan's yodelling was hilarious so everyone wanted to borrow it. Eventually I swapped it for Bob Marley and the Wailers 'Live!' On balance, a good decision.
  • Moving waves was one of the first albums I bought from memory ( the actual first being Tubular Bells).
The yodelling was not Jan, it was Thijs Van Leer who played the organ and was the primary vocalist. He was still in thrall of Prog I would guess. Jan turned 70 just before Christmas.

  • ^Oops. Mixed up my dutchmen. The youtube clip of Mr Van Leer and co playing it live is a classic.

With yodelling and whistling, surely an inspiration for FM.

  • I've kind of gotten into The Chainsmokers, RagnBone Man and Dua Lipa. And i like Ed Sheeran's new song.

just how much yodelling and whistling is there in popular music for Alison to have been inspired by?
    Frank Ifield and Roger Whittakar?
