Its not an issue with YT with the method you`ve used (its a HTML workaround but it works) , but it stops HTML posting from other places and other trick things (polls , Soundcloud etc).

Worked out how to do it (post Soundcloud) from something you said , triple Woot-a-rama

To post Soundcloud audio ,

1. revert back to the old Soundcloud via the dashboard

2. press share

3. untick use HTML5 player

4. customise the player (colour , turn off comments etc)

5. copy the widget code

6. Click Show Source

7. Paste the widget code

8. Post

They have turned something off , in the initial two videos I posted , I used HTML code pasting and it worked fine...and then it stopped working . But I just checked the code and they`re "object" - I think its lay down in a dark room time for me ....

They either stopped it or I broke the internet :) , its evens on that one

Has anyone tried to send a Personal Message to another member?

If you go to a person's details page... there is a textbox which says "Send blah-blah a message".

Does that do it? Or is that public / goes on their "wall"?

Cheers, yes, that showed up in my "Inbox". Bit surprised it didn't flag it via e-mail (I've turned all notifications on) or a pop-up message or summat.

And on the PM (well, I assume no-one else can see it)... there is no "reply" option... which seems a bit odd, no? There is however, a "Start a conversation " button.

Oops, scratch that. If you click on the body of the PM, it takes you to another screen where you can reply. Weird thing is - I'm pretty sure I tried that the fist time I went to it?

I'm a bit surprised that there is no option to give a message/conversation a title, as per GMB etc. I guess it's just a continuous stream, of back-and-forth PMs?

Right - sorted! Actually better than the old board and more like messaging on mobiles.

To send/use private message conversations:-

1) Click on the person name you want to send one to.

2) Top left of their profile page click the "Send <person> a Message"

3) In the next screen type the message in the lower main box and click "Start Conversation"

4) When the person receives it one of a few things may happen based on their choice of settings:-

a) An email to say they have one - click on the link in the email to read/reply to it as below.

b) A number appears by your name at the top of the screen and your inbox to show you have something waiting for you - click on the inbox to go straight to it or to your page to see what it is first.

c) Your activity page shows somebody sent you a message. Click on the word message to read it.

The conversation bit comes in because as you reply to each other it is stored as a single conversation between you in the style of phone messaging so you can read both sides of the replies easily in order on one page. If you start a new conversation, even with the same person, then it gets a page of it's own when read.

All in all, much better!

Cheers Carp, for doing a proper description/instruction for PMs. Yes, it is like mobile messaging, and I'm happy with that. Oh, in addition to what you listed, a number appears next to "Inbox" which states how many unread messages you've got.

Regarding an overview of the threads on the Forum... i.e. the "top level"...

You can:

1) click on 'Discussions', the left-most item on the menu, which shows a single list of threads from all categories, sorted by date/time, newest first.

2) click on the big "header" picture, which shows 4 separate lists - one for each of the 4 categories, with threads sorted by date/time, newest first. Each list shows up to 5 threads. This is the view most similar to how the old GMB looked. (This view doesn't seem to be available in mobile mode)

3) click on a Category in the list, top-right. This shows a list of threads in the selected category only, sorted by date/time, newest first. (OK, this is obviously not a "top-level" view)

Ummm, there's also the "My bookmarks" category that can zero in on the ones you click "follow" on. That way, you can stick to the really pertiient ones and avoid any that I inadvertently bombarded last night. I hope those bombarded were mostly superflous threads. At least, I tried to keep it that way. My apologies if I wasn't totally successful.
