  • What Sunday afternoon bliss....chillin out, jibber jabbering with me Frapp pals about aubretia and pest control (I miss Gardeners World last night, so thanks for this mini-fix). PML. Ive said it before, but I bet not many fan forums rabbit on such topics! Bless A and W. I bet they despise this! (:|
I bet she's not the only one who wonders...how did I rock the pink playsuit look and STILL attract middle-aged muppets who want to share photos of their lame attempts at mole-control...
    Bet she does.

Not exactly hi-tech, but if it works you all owe me a pint.
  • What the heck is that?  If whatever-it-is works, I'd buy you a pint...next time I'm in England.
  • Here's an interesting one for you, if you spray for ants.  After long enough, you will probably notice that the ant piles come back in the same place.  That's because you never kill the queen.  Ant spray companies must just love it.  They merrily go along selling tons of stuff to kill off the same ant colony over and over, again.  The queen ant loves it, too.  Just wait a little while and crank out another ton of worker ants.  What works, is poke a decent depth hole (6 inches?) anywhere you see a hole and fill it with the ant poison.  That ant pile will be gone, eighty percent of the time.  Get a llttle more entusiastic about the holes poked and it's closer to 100% of the time.  I used to fight ants all of the time and they kept coming back.  Now, I hardly need to spray my lawn.  Maybe a handful of new ant piles show up every year.

I envy your situation, UT.  I know it's probably terrible for Gaia but really, ants and mosquitoes don't seem to add a lot of value.  More than likely a terrible idea, but I would not fight too hard against the elimination of both.

  • So this is now a thread for entomological genocidaires?

Get thee behind me, Satan - and go read some science!

    Ants

    Mosquitoes
  • Yeah, I was thinking this may not have been the best thread for that.

Thanks for the insights on ants and mosquitoes.
  • Just for you, Whisperit, since you were present enough to say something.
  • Thanks, WW!
  • ^Yeah, like I said in the original, I'm sure it's a terrible idea,  And, surely, a dumb statement.  Kinishi nai de.

  • Crikey, that's made me feel Uncle Billy just watching! But I want to be her!!
Reminds me of the cover to Sophie B Hawkins album, Whaler.
  • Ps My anti -mole strategy worked and no rodent got hurt! So I'm owed several pints !
  • Good for you, Kat!  Now, please explain what you did.  Put plastic bottles on top of sticks?
